Be A Musée Intern

Musée prides itself on giving our interns valuable hands-on experience and insight into the digital publication industry. As an intern with Musée you will be exposed to the photographic community’s most established figures, up and coming works, premiering films, and gallery openings. You will learn key skills regarding your field of interest as well as enhance traits that are vital to any professional environment: professional comportment, problem solving, and a heightened attention to detail.

All potential interns must possess:

Interns are required to commit 2-3 days a week for four-months (16 Weeks). You must live in New York City or have the ability to commute to lower Manhattan. We do stress that all internships are unpaid, with school, masthead, and on page credit available as appropriate and upon the internship’s completion.

Administrative Assistants will work closely with Andrea Blanch to ensure departments are running efficiently. Daily responsibilities include handling e-mails, calendar and database management, various research and administrative tasks as directed. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive, highly organized, and have excellent communication and grammar skills. Prior office management experience is appreciated!


Editorial Interns develop new content on photographers, exhibitions, and the current environment of contemporary photography for the magazine and website. In addition, interns will assist with transcribing, fact checking, copyediting and proofreading articles. Editorial Interns will have the opportunity to write photography book and film reviews, as well as craft questions for artist interviews. Excellent communication and grammar skills are mandated. Prior knowledge of the photography world is key. Candidates applying for an Editorial position must provide a minimum of 2 writing samples.


Photo-Editors research, process submissions, photo source, and correspond with galleries. Photo-editor interns coordinate weekly exhibition openings as well, and are expected to stay ‘in the know’ on current events within the photography world. The candidate must be proficient in Adobe CS InDesign, Photoshop, Bridge, and Lightroom. 


Graphic Design interns design promotional material, layout the newsletter, and assist with layouts for the web, mobile and tablet devices. This intern communicates and collaborates with the Editor in Chief on all designs. The candidate must be proficient in Adobe CS InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. It is a bonus if the candidate is familiar with Adobe After Effects and/or Final Cut Pro. Candidates applying for a Graphic Design position must provide a minimum of three design projects through an online source or PDF.

Digital Media interns will work closely with the Editorial, Marketing and Graphic Design departments to ensure brand cohesiveness for the magazine’s online presence. Interns will make small videos for social media and the Musée website. The candidate must be proficient in Adobe After Effect and Final Cut Pro as well as content management systems.


Interns will monitor all forms of media, assist with developing content for campaigns and promotional material for with our social media outlets. Interns will also assist in all aspects of fundraising: research; data base management; grant proposals; donor cultivations and direct-mail appeals. In addition, interns will research organizations for potential sponsorships and partnerships.

  • Research organizations (especially on social media) to identify new leads and potential markets


  • Strong working knowledge of various social media platforms

  • Experience in grant writing and or cooperate outreach/sponsorship
