Release: Liu Bolin's "Hidden in the City: the Louvre Pyramid (with JR)"
By Sara Head
It is no easy feat to effectively erase as prominent a public fixture as the Louvre Pyramid from the Parisian landscape. However, that is just what Musée veterans JR (Issue #12, Controversy) and Liu Bolin (Issue #10 Vol. 1, Ritual) set out to do in their most recent project. A collaboration of rather monumental proportions, the two incorporated elements of their ongoing projects into an impressive public installation on May 29th, 2016. Street artist JR began the Louvre takeover, wrapping a side of the iconic structure in an image of the surrounding building and allowing it to blend away into the background, while Bolin continued his Hidden in the City series by painting both himself and JR to themselves disappear into their surroundings.
The results of this endeavor are now available as a print, entitled “Hidden in the City: the Louvre Pyramid (with JR)”, from Magda Danysz.
