May 1 Photographic Alphabet: U is for Dennis Usdan

Project: Interiors

The obvious idea here is visions of interior spaces. He is interested in exploring how material or objects seem to block our vision but also reveal another view. From a psychological perspective, he see these images as metaphors of what may block us as a human being from grasping the complex nature of our own interior selves.

On another level, these images may provoke our memories of interior spaces and give us further insights into ourselves. Hopefully, these images express both aspects.

He has learned that every photograph we make is some way a representation of the photographer.
