Weekend Portfolio: Lexi Jude

Lexi Jude is a queer conceptual fine art and fashion photographer, video artist, and writer based in the United States. She fights for authenticity, vulnerability, and individuality through her creative expression. She is not afraid to explore and depict taboo, and otherwise unspoken realities in her work such as sexuality, gender, nudity, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, and depression. She creates uncomfortable and surreal narratives using the aforementioned themes through self-portraiture and collage in order to achieve raw depictions of personal encounters with mental health. Lexi’s influences include that of the Dada and Surrealist movements of both cinema and the photographic arts, chiefly Claude Cahun, Hannah Höch, and Man Ray. Additional inspiration includes the works of Francesca Woodman, Ralph Eugene Meatyard, and Duane Michals. Her favorite writers are Anne Sexton, Sylvia Plath, Shirley Jackson, and Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Through her honest self reflections of her journey with mental health, Jude aims to evoke strong emotions and develop deep connections with her audience.
