The concept for this project approaches the themes of migration and explores the disparate reasons behind it; whether it be forced migration in communities witnessing an uprising of gentrification or fleeing places of conflict; or simply in search of new opportunity, be it financial or self-expression.

This is an ongoing project that started in Konya, Turkey, my hometown, and in collaboration with Raphael Hirsch whom I met after I resettled in the UK over a decade ago.

Born in Turkey, and based in London has bestowed photographer Olgaç Bozalp with a hybrid perspective of the Eastern and Western worlds. His cultural awareness and sensitivity to personal identities mixed with fashion and documentary are what make his work feel simultaneously nostalgic and alien. Olgaç explores the world of his subjects by frequently shooting in their homes, providing an intimate portrayal between subject and photographer that is undeniably captivating and informative.

Olgaç was featured in British Journal of Photography's "Ones to Watch" photographers of 2019, stating “Bozalp has been at the forefront of a movement to diversify visual culture, introducing new ideas about gender, beauty, and race.”, and Aperture’s "Element of Style" issue, that investigates the role of style, dress, and beauty in the formation of individual identity.  His work has also been published by M Le Monde, T Magazine, Dazed, Dust, Replica, Atmos.

More of Olgaç Bozalp’s work can be found on his website and Instagram.
