Hedi Slimane's collection was a hit at Fashion Week in Paris

On Sunday night in Paris the European men’s Autumn/Winter 2014 fashion season officially wrapped up. It was a season marked by clashes: the clash between youthful creativity and classic tailoring.

What were the top collections and biggest disappointments of the season? Paris, as always, impressed with its creative tailoring collections. Milan was flat but possibly intentionally in order to show the crisis that is dominating the Italian market and London. It was different and innovative and it may become very influential.

The most surprising collection was of Saint Laurent. It was the first collection of the new director Hedi Slimane, and he reinvents a style to present a man elegant with a perfect suit and tie and a waistcoat. The innovation of the collection was to combine a leather jacket with a touch of maculate punk fur and long fur of a different tone. Hedi understands perfectly that today's sense of fashion is comprised by a desire to wear the style, not only a magical show that solely exists on the catwalk. He used real boys on the cat walk and real boys want to wear a stylish and elegant masterpiece of Saint Laurent.
