Evolution explores the concepts of progress, transformation, growth, and advancement in an age when images are taking a dramatic shift in the role they play in our lives.

Karolyn Pho interview by Marsin Mogielski

Marsin Mogielski: When did you know you first had a “passion for fashion?”Karolyn Pho: In preschool I would spend ten hours picking out outfits and doing my hair. I had a whole hair concept, shoe concept, and the whole nine yards. That was just the beginning.

M.M.: What inspired your current collection?

K.P.: I thought a lot about kinetic energy and what that meant to the ancient Egyptians… By way of this portal to the future. I still feel that even today we are still obsessed with the same idea. I like that the theme is still present. I like the idea of taking something ancient and archaic and using it with a futuristic idea and seeing where those two balance together.

M.M.: Where can we find the Karolyn Pho collection?

K.P.: It is all over the place right now, including Satine in California, West LA in Dubai, Beaute in Japan, Melange in Kuwait, and Raised by Wolves in New York, among others. I am hoping to get in to the majors soon. Praying for Neiman Markus Sacks, Nordstrom…

My website as well www.karolynpho.com

M.M.: What advice do you have for other emerging artists?

K.P.: What has worked for me is knowing that you are the truth and following your own voice. Do not take everything offensively. Everybody here has an opinion and you should use that, good or bad, to your advantage.

M.M.: What zodiac sign are you?

K.P.: Capricorn, can’t you tell!
