2017 Photo Independent Fair // LA Festival of Photography

2017 Photo Independent Fair // LA Festival of Photography

Now in it's fourth year, Photo Independent is championing a new generation of photographers and photobook publisher, and is quickly becoming one of the most significant annual photographic events in the United States. It is the only international art fair bridging the gap between those who love and collect photography, and the artists who make it.

Launching this year in conjunction with the art fair is the Los Angeles Festival of Photography! This festival aims to encourage and celebrate the photographic image and those who devote their time and extraordinary minds to creating and advancing the medium. The international festival gathers leading figures in the industry to celebrate the current photographic landscape, and features workshops, keynotes, lectures, and exhibitions.

The 2017 program includes iconic photographer Roger Ballen, who will be a Keynote Speaker, will provide a workshop on Fine Art Photography, and exhibit works from his many bodies of work, including his latest series The Theatre of Apparitions. Other highlights include Charlotte Cotton, who will also give a Keynote, and 2017 Guggenheim Fellow Ken Gozales-Day. Another highlight is the opportunity to have breakfast with LA County Museum of Art (LACMA) photography curator, Britt Salvessen!

PHOTOBOOK INDEPENDENT - a special program and exhibition of international photobooks - will showcase books from over 40 self-publishers, international publishers and photographic artists.

Full festival launches April 18, 2017. Click here to register for workshops, keynotes, and lectures!
