I started that job independently, without assignment because I lost my job and started looking for some story in my town. As a freelance.
Coatepec is a city where I have lived for 15 years, people live mainly from agriculture and tourism and since the quarantine began, some actions began to prevent COVID-19. One of the actions was sanitation, which was carried out by only 2 boys. I took those photos during a month that the sanitizations were carried out, they were made at night to protect the population and also to avoid aggressions against the sanitizers. Although on a couple of occasions the villagers did verbally attack them, accusing them of poisoning people with their chemicals.
However, more than 15 small communities, markets, clinics and streets were visited, and despite these works, today Coatepec has a large number of positive cases of COVID-19 and deaths are beginning to rise. The two boys who performed the sanitation are municipal garden workers and curiously both are called Julio. In the town they are known as "Los Julios".
Sanitizations began at 10 p.m. and sometimes ended at 2 or 3 a.m. They were carried out for more than a month and the entire town was sanitized.
