I loved living in my cabin in the woods. The seclusion was to my liking, and I got a taste of hermitage. That was until December 29, 2011.

I had just prepared my evening cuppa, when I heard two gunshots not a mile away. I was alarmed, of course; if I had been holding the mug, I’m sure I would have dropped it.

I stood still for what felt like a long time before I heard movement outside. When I opened my cabin’s front door, I was greeted with the ghastly trails of blood. I closed the door promptly and decided to move the next day.
